Lok Baintan Floating Market
I remember, when i was kid, i watched a tv station advertisement with floating market as the background. And finally this month i went to the province and managed to go to the floating market.
Lok Baintan, located in Martapura, Banjar, South Borneo, is a traditional floating market in Pinang River. Dominated by women, the seller usually sell their yields such as fruits and vegetables. They also sell some traditional snacks and some traditional meals. Long time ago, before it became a tourists attraction, they do barter their yields to each trader (now seller).
This floating market is a must visit place when you are in South Borneo. You can see some nice view (specially when you arrive very early, with the sunrise light, the view looks very beautiful), and you can have some human interest objects, with cheerful color from their boats, fruits and vegetables for your photography. This market usually finishes around 9.30-10am and it's always busy during weekend. Many foreigner tourists come here to take some photos and to experience the floating market. Try their local snacks and yummy fruits. And don't forget to put on some sunscreen and wear a hat because the sun will heat you up after 7am.
